WWCC: Nadezhda Kosintseva Played Caro-Kann Against Her Sister For the First Time Ever

Ilya Levitov, the Chairman of the Management Board of the Russian Chess Federation, responded to a question regarding Kosintseva sisters at the online press conference organized by the newspaper Moskovskij Komsomolets.

The FIDE website reports that Nadezhda Kosintseva has withdrawn from the Grand Prix Series. According to the announcement, she has been replaced by her sister Tatiana Kosintseva due to the rating criteria. Let us remind you that Tatiana has already participated in the 1st stage of the Grand Prix and shared 3-4 places. 

This is what Nadezhda Kosintseva told us after her match against Tatiana was over: "We agreed that the one who would lose the match would stay in Khanty-Mansiysk, - chess player smiled. - So, Tatiana will stay here to help me, I would do the same if I have lost."

The Head coach of the Russian national teams Evgeny Bareev gave an interview to the Russian Chess Federation website according to which Kosintseva sisters won't play for the national team at least at the nearest team championship which will take place in Astana.

Tatiana and Nadezhda presented RCF with an ultimatum: either the captain of the team Sergey Rublevsky will be replaced or they won't play for the team.   

Nadezhda Kosintseva faced Anna Ushenina in the quarter-final of the Women's World Championship.
