Nadezhda Kosintseva faced Anna Ushenina in the quarter-final of the Women's World Championship. In a tense struggle Ukrainian had Black and demonstrated a strong preparation: she got a comfortable position in the Sicilian and eventually grabbed initiative. Instead of 29...Qb7 better could be moving Black knight on a4 with tempo: 29...Nb6 30.Qxa6 Na4.

Soon the queens were exchanged and Black had good compensation for a pawn in the endgame. However, Ushenina blundered on 35th move:

35...f6?? Now after 36.gxf6+ Bxf6+ 37.Rxf6 Kxf6 38.Rxd6+ Nadezhda could actually even win, but she missed this simple tactics. 36.Ka2 Rhf8 37.Nd4 Bd7 38.Be6 Ba4 39.Rdf1 Rbe8 40.Bd5 Bd7 41.Be6 Ba4 42.Bb3 Bd7 43.Be6 1/2

White could continue fight, but perhaps, tired after yesterday's tie-break against her sister, Nadezhda preferred to agree on a draw.
