The first game of the Women's World Championship final started quite unsuccessfully for Anna Ushenina of Ukraine. As a result of an unexpected opening Ukrainian faced the Carlsbad structure and played inaccurately. According to Ushenina she made a mistake by exchanging on e4: 20.Bxe4 - it had to be done earlier. Actually, it seems that the mistake was 21.Qc2 (noteworthy is 21.bxc6 Bxf3 22.cxb7 Rb8 23.Nxe4 Bxe4 24.Ra1, not everyone will dare to play so in a time trouble though).

It seemed that the result of the game was already known, however, it was Stefanova's turn to make mistakes.

31...f5? Check from anywhere with taking on h2 would keep advantage for Black.
32.Rf8! Rg5 Here it was better to block the pawn on h2: 32...Qh3+! 33.Ke2 Rg5
33.h4 Rh5 34.Qc2 Qe4 35.Qc8 In the commentary given to the official website of the competition Stefanova stated she has blundered exactly this move of her opponent.
35...Qe7 36.Rxf5 1/2
