Jan Nepomniachtchi was denied UK  visa

Jan Nepomniachtchi won't be able to help Magnus Carlsen during the supertournament in London, which will be opened in the nearest Saturday. The Embassy of UK in Moscow is known for its strict rules in regard to visa issues - the Russian GM Jan Nepomniachtchi was denied the admission visa to United Kingdom.

Chessdom refers to the Norwegian website vg.no and cites Carlsen's manager Espen Agdestein:"it is not possible to find a replacement on such a short notice, and besides Magnus got used to working with Ian. Not only that Ian is very strong and well prepared player, but the two are of same age and there is the much needed “chemistry” during the work." Agdestein also noted that London Chess Classic was supposed to be an important test for the team before the Candidates Tournament in March.

Let us remind you that the 4th London Chess Classic apart from Carlsen will host Levon Aronian, Vladimir Kramnik, Vishy Anand, Hikaru Nakamura, Judit Polgar, Gawain Jones, Luke McShane and Michael Adams.
