The New Series of Russian Rapid Grand Prix Starts on January 10 in Volgograd

The Rapid Grand Prix of Russia which gained popularity in 2012 will be held in the new year as well. The first stage will start on January 10 in Volgograd. The official website of the RCF reports the dates of the competition: January 10-14.
According to the regulations the final tournament of the Rapid Grand Prix Russia had to start on December 22. All participants have already arrived to Kirov, however, the organizers were forced to postpone the beginning of the competition by one day because of technical problems. Thus, the tournament starts tomorrow, the final will be held on December 24.
The traditional Dvorkovich MeEmorial will be held in Taganrog from January 14th to 27th. Two big events will take place: the stage of Russian Cup which is a rapid competition (January 14-17) and 9-round classical Swiss (January 17-27).
According to the оfficial website Alexander Morozeivch will hold a simul on the aarival day Janary 14th.
The FIDE website reports that Nadezhda Kosintseva has withdrawn from the Grand Prix Series. According to the announcement, she has been replaced by her sister Tatiana Kosintseva due to the rating criteria. Let us remind you that Tatiana has already participated in the 1st stage of the Grand Prix and shared 3-4 places.
The website Chessdom published Kirsan Ilyumzhinov's responses to journalists' questions during the press conference in Thessaloniki, where the fourth stage of the Grand Prix series is currently taking place. According to the President of FIDE, the venue of the fifth stage is likely to be announced next week.
Today the "Don Rapid 2012" has started in Novocherkassk (Rostov Region), in the South-Russian State Technical University (NPI). It's a stage of the Russian Rapid Grand Prix.
The website rbcdaily.ru published Sergey Karjakin's interview in which Russian GM told about his performance at the Russian Team Chess Championship. Let us remind you he played for the team Malakhit on Board 1 and finished the competition with =5 -1.
FIDE website published an official announcementaccording to which the 3rd stage of the Grand Prix will take place in Zug, Switzerland as scheduled from April 17th to May 1st.
