  • In yesterday's round Vladimir Kramnik gained a nice win over Daniel Fridman. His play reminded of Mikhail Tal's style: not all the attacking moves are objectively the strongest, but as a result - the crushing loss which seems inevitable.

  • Round 5 of the round-robin tournament in Dortmund is underway. Russian GM Dmitry Andreikin is one of the outsiders of the first cycle. Yet he managed to gather only half a point. Today Andreikin checkmated Henkin, not without his own help, to improve his situation in the table.

  • The penultimate round game between Kramnik and Caruana lasted for 7 hours. Russian GM had some advantage in a typical for Grunfeld endgame, but the assessment of the position changed frequently - form "closer to winning" to drawn. Caruana blundered exactly in an equal position:

  • Michael Adams wins in Dortmund to get closer to world top-10

  • Vladimir Kramnik won a nice game against Georg Meier in Dortmund in Round 4.

  • Dortmund: Michael Adams and Vladimir Kramnik lead confidently

  • Russian GM Dmitry Andreikin will play in several super tournaments this year. Now he is playing in Capablanca Memorial, yesterday we got to know he is among the participants of the Tal Memorial. From July 24th-August 4th Andreikin will play in the Dortmund tournament which will have ten participants (including him):
    Vladimir Kramnik
    Fabiano Caruana
    Peter Leko
    Wang Hao
    Michael Adams
    Dmitry Andreikin

  • The third round of the Dortmund competition was full of fighting. Perhaps it's possible to say that each of today's four wins was due to higher class. The winner of 'Aeroflot' Mateusz Bartel, who's performing unsuccessfully, wasn't able to cope with Vladimir Kramnik - the Polish remained on naught points in the table. Ruslan Ponomariov 'expelled' Georg Meier from the group of leaders.

  • The traditional tournament in Dortmund is proving very fighting: over half of the games in the first four rounds have ended decisively and not one has ended in an early draw. The most uncompromising of all are Vladimir Kramnik and Arkady Naiditsch.

After a defeat at the start, the ex-world champion has won three games in a row. Yesterday evening, it was Georg Meier who was unable to withstand Kramnik's pressure.

  • Caruana wins Dortmund one round to go
