The fate of the first place in the women's section was decided on Board 1 in Kosteniuk - Gunina encounter. According to the opening it seemed that the former world champion who was white had chances to grab initiative, but her rival reacted accurately and timely. Lat er the situation changed and already Kosteniuk could lose, but Gunina forced the draw which was absolutely enough for her towin the competition.

We already reported on Nepomniachtchi's win over Kramnik, which brought him to the tiebreak match against Svidler. The match was quite unsuccessful for Ian as he lost first rapid game and couldn't manage to recover in the second one.

Nikita Vitiugov finished third surpassing Kramnik on a tiebreak

The winners praised the organisation of the tournament, Svidler namely repeated Gelfand who, after winning Tal Memorial, noted the " tournaments organised by the RCF in recent years are the best int he world."
