WTCC: Nepomniachtchi supposedly brings Russia Gold

The kye match of Round 8 and perhaps of the whole competition has finished in Antalya, Turkey. Ukrainian team faced Russia which was only a point behind the leaders.

All games went in a tough fight and maintained approximate equality for the most of the time. Ivanchuk had a microscopic advantage against Kramnik, Nepomniatchi kept Kryvoruchko under pressure: in other two games drawish tendencies were too strong.

After 30th move Ivanchuk and Kryvoruchko started making mistakes: the leader of Ukrainian team blundered the tactical blow 30...Bxg3! by playing 30.Kg2?Kramnik didn't miss it. The reigning Ukrainian champion didn't risk to play actively (32...g5!), while passive defending position brought unsolvable problems, namely the queen isolated in the corner could never join the play.

NEPOMNIACHTCHI - KRYVORUCHKO

The queen is trapped, so Black resigned.

Kramnik forced a draw and Russia won the match practically securing the overall win. In the last round Russia is facing Egypt, which hasn't gained a point yet.
