Harikrishna's Simul in Serbia: Chess Unites Cultures

An unusual event has taken place in Belgrade: Indian Grandmaster Pentala Harikrishna (2725) has held a simultaneous exhibition on 30 boards at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of Belgrade. The list of players included the university professors, well-known public figures, diplomats, and young Serbian chess talents.

The final score was 28-2 to Harikrishna. One of those four who have managed to make a draw was famous Serbian actor Goran Danicic.

Before the opening ceremony, the guests and the participants had a chance to enjoy the documentary about India and its culture, as well as to taste specialities of the Indian cuisine at the cocktail party organized by the Embassy of India in Belgrade.

The event has been organized by the University Sport Association of Belgrade, the Embassy of India, the University of Belgrade, and its Faculty of Mechanical Engineering which is considered to be the unofficial capital of Serbian and Belgrade chess.
