After a non-chess Vienna - Prague - Salzburg - Vienna journey in 2013, I have fallen in love with the Czech capital. Just a couple of days spent in Prague have been enough for that.

  • Hou Yifan arrived to the Czech capital in order to play the four-game match of classical chess Cez Cess Trophy which is traditionally held in June. Her rival will be David Navara. The match starts tomorrow, while last weekend the former world champion already had a walk with her mother; she also gave a simul on twenty boards.

  • Chess-train will pass through five counties

  • The unique tournament came to its end

  • The world championships at rapid and blitz chess will be held from 9-15 October in Berlin. Both tournaments will be Swiss system events, the Rapid 15 rounds in three days, the blitz 21 rounds over two days.

  • At the current FIDE Presidential Board meeting in Chengdu, Berlin has been accepted to host the world rapid and blitz championships. The tournament will run from 9 to 15 October, according to the FIDE website.

It is already clear that the dates clash with several other events. In particular, there is an overlap with Millionaire Chess, for which Hikaru Nakamura and Wesley So have both signed up, and also with Chess Train (the traditional chess event on board a train) and the Bundesliga.
