Sergey Karjakin has complained on his Twitter: "Regrettably, I have to put it straight. The food at the Russian championship is beneath all criticism..."

The Russian men's and women's Superfinals are underway in the East Siberian city of Chita. Of 11 rounds, 7 are already over.

After the today's victory over Vladislav Artemiev, Karjakin has specified what he had meant, not entirely though:

"It's about food provided to us. It's a buffet, sometimes it's satisfactory, but the food quality is, alas, lower than in Moscow. For the time being, I'd like to reveal no more."

According to the grandmaster, there are good restaurants in Chita, but it's difficult for the chessplayers to find time for them during the tournament.

Let us remain the readers that these days, banned foreign food has to be destroyed and is being destroyed in Russia, in accordance with the current legislation. (Meanwhile, Karjakin is known to be a strong supporter of Vladimir Putin's policy - Ed.)
