FIDE World Junior U20 Championships taking place in Khanty-Mansiysk are reaching their climax. Zhansaya Abdumalik of Kazakhstan led with a perfect score until round 7 and it seemed that there was little to no intrigue left in the fight for the first place. However, Abdumalik drew the following two games and lost against Alina Bivol of Russia today.

"I was determined to win, - the winner told Yugramegasport. - In fact, this game was deciding if I would still have chances to fight for the prize-winning places. My mindset for the game was "all-or-nothing". There was some home preparation but my opponent still managed to surprise me with an inaccurate move. That's when I turned on my head to come on top after five hours of hell.

It is really hard since it is already the tenth round, I am exhausted... I feel like coming to the hotel and falling on my bed, lying with my face downward. I can hardly even stand right now, I am still shaking. I think my relatives and friends are all following the games online and they are also shaking... I came for the today's game pretty confident due to that support. All of my friends cheered me up writing: "Go for it! Do your best!" and similar."

Now Bivol is third with 7.5 points, while Abdumalik moved to the second place with 8 points. Yet Ukrainian Nataliya Buksa (2199, she is 23rd in the starting list) outruns them having performed four wins in a row.
