For the second year running, the resort town of Anaklia is becoming an arena of merciless battles between the Georgian women chess players.

Anaklia is a resort town in Zugdidi municipality (the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region), near the administrative border of the region.

A legend about the origin of the town says that a child was abducted from a village woman called Anna. When people heard a scream of a woman in despair, they asked what happened. They were given a response, "Anna rkians" (translated from Megrelian as "Anna is screaming"). That's why the village was called Anakria, which means "the screaming". Later, the letter "R" transformed into "L" and that formed the modern name of the town.

The participants are staying and playing in this hotel, same as last year.

Meri Arabidze, who selected the number one, is particularly happy. Though, who knows... So far, Meri won against two grandmasters: Paikidze and Gvetadze; however, she drew with an outsider of the tournament Bokuchava in the third round.

Once it was decided who is playing against whom, those present got to do the real work, at last...

Still, the moment comes when the sporting side of the event is brought to the forefront.  The participants sit down at the boards.
