In the first decisive game of the 2nd round of Tal Memorial Vladimir Kramnik outplayed Alexander Grischuk.

The former World Champion explained that the idea of 12.Bf3 in the King's Indian defence has been prepared by him for the Candidates tournament in Kazan, however, he could apply it only against Anish Giri last year. In that encounter Vladimir forgot the analysis, but now he followed the main line of the prepared variant - 13.Bg2 (a novelty). "The idea of Bg2 for moving ...e4 without tempo" - Kramnik.

The rivals agreed that the position turned out to be critical after 22.Qb3! (we've mentioned it in our twitter-commentaries to the game. Black has problems, but, maybe it still can solve them).

Grischuk failed to defend for he was in a time trouble.

The game recalls Kramnik's victories in 90's, when he has been achieving success in a fresh at that time variant 10.Re1. Now the former champion restored an old  10.g3 continuation.
